By using Council of Five ("the app"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What the app is, and is not
Council of Five generates fictional perspectives from five named characters (a Stoic, a Monk, a Founder, your Future Self, and your Seven-Year-Old) using a large language model. It is not therapy, legal advice, medical advice, financial advice, or professional counseling. The responses are text generated by software. They do not constitute a relationship with a licensed professional, a friend, or any real person.

2. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the app to:
- Generate content that violates any applicable law.
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate any person.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse the AI inference infrastructure that powers responses.
- Bypass the rate limits built into the app.
3. Content ownership
The text you type belongs to you. The text generated by the AI in response is provided to you for personal use. You may share it freely, including using the in-app share feature.
You acknowledge that AI-generated text may incidentally resemble copyrighted material due to the nature of language models. You assume responsibility for how you use generated text.
4. Availability
The app depends on third-party AI infrastructure (Anthropic via Rork). We do not guarantee uptime, response quality, or continuity of service. Service may be interrupted, rate-limited, or discontinued at any time.
5. Warranty disclaimer
The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months preceding the claim, which is typically zero.
7. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated through the in-app About screen. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of the app is established. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
9. Subscriptions and payments
Council of Five is free to use with a limit of one council per day. Council of Five Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription that removes the daily limit and unlocks follow-up questions and saving or sharing your council as an image.
- Billing: Payment is charged to your Apple ID (App Store) or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
- Auto-renewal: The subscription renews automatically for the same period and price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within that 24-hour window.
- Managing and cancelling: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancelling stops future renewals; the current paid period stays active until it ends.
- Price changes: If a subscription price increases, we will request your consent in accordance with the app store's rules before it applies to you.
- Refunds: Purchases are processed by Apple or Google and are subject to their refund policies; we cannot issue store refunds directly.
- Introductory offers: Where an introductory or trial offer is provided, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase the corresponding subscription, if applicable.
Prices are shown in your local currency in the app before you confirm a purchase.
